Are you taking a prenatal supplement but dread the thought of swallowing a horse pill? You may even be a person like me, who cannot swallow any pill unless it's the size of a crumb? When I received the opportunity to review the Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix, I jumped at the chance because I wondered, is it really flavorless enough to add to my choice of cold drinks? I'm not pregnant or trying, but I have kids and remember how pronounced my taste buds were during pregnancy. Things that tasted good were extra good, but something nasty made the chance of it coming right back up a most certain event. A prenatal vitamin is not going to do any good if you can't keep it down.
I tried the Premama mix and was pleasantly surprised. I tried it in orange juice, apple juice, and chocolate milk and it did not alter the taste of any of the beverages I mentioned. Another great option is that the mix packet is divided so that if you would like, you can take 1/2 dose in the morning and the other half in the evening. One important point, Premama needs to be mixed only with cold beverages, not hot.
The March of Dimes suggests all women ages 15-50 take prenatal vitamins every day, as 50% of all pregnancies are unplanned.
